August is National Catfish Month!
Looking for a reason to add some catfish to your August menu? It’s National Catfish Month! Take advantage of increased press on US farmed catfish this month and add a catfish special to your menu! The Catfish Institute promises national and regional print, TV, radio and web campaigns highlighting U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish and the American farmer throughout the month of August.
Versatile, inexpensive and plentiful, US farmed catfish is also sustainable! It’s rated green by Seafood Watch… What more can you ask for in a seafood option? Supplies of catfish are steady and consistent – and it’s a species your customers will recognize instantly.
Depending on how it’s prepared, catfish is also incredibly healthy! A great low-calorie source of protein, we’re sure you can come up with some fresh ways to help your customers use catfish to make smart and healthy seafood choices (without sacrificing any flavor).
Add it to your appetizer menu, try it in fish tacos, try it on top of a fresh summer salad – catfish shines in almost any application. Need some inspiration? The Catfish Institute’s website is a great source of catfish recipes and ideas that will help you add catfish to any menu.
