Seasonal Seafood Specials

We’d like to remind you about some great local seafood options that are perfect choices for the next couple of weeks.

Try some Luna Oysters from nearby Carlsbad Aquafarms – get these briny beauties on your raw bar now! Oysters are a natural choice for easy food and wine pairings and since September is California Wine Month it’s a perfect time to highlight local vineyards. We also just enjoyed a great visit to Carlsbad Aquafarms, enjoy some of these great photos from our recent trip. This is also a good moment to remind you about our Shuck-n-Swallow event at First Bar in Las Vegas– join us at 4:00 pm on August 31 for some oyster slurpin’ fun!

Although it wasn’t a great year for local wild California sea bass harvests, we do have fish available. This seasonal favorite won’t be around for much longer so if you have been considering it – act now! Fish is coming in from Lower Baja.

Also from that region – fresh yellowtail and baquetta. Both of these fish lend themselves to the last gorgeous days of summer. Perfect simply grilled with light summer sauces that highlight fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits. Customers are always appreciative of delicious menu items that come across as fresh and healthy.

Also great on the grill – Hawaiian ono! Get this fish on your specials list whenever it’s around. Also known as wahoo, ono is a meaty fish that cooks up a lot like tuna, but with a milder flavor. Your customers will say Mahalo!

We recommend Paddy’s Market Update as the very best way to keep up with ALL the seafood news – not just local species. Also, you can find all these species highlighted in our new Seafood Product Guide – you’ll find availability information along with sustainability ratings, product descriptions and more.
