Santa Monica Seafood Acquires Central Coast Seafood

Posted by Santa Monica Admin, on July 2nd, 2012 in Announcements

We are delighted to announce that we have acquired Central Coast Seafood Company. Based in Atascadero, CA, Central Coast Seafood is a fresh and frozen seafood distributor serving California’s Central Coast that has been family owned and operated since 1973. Central Coast Seafood will remain a separate, wholly-owned entity in its existing facility and will continue to do business as Central Coast Seafood. Giovanni Comin, President of Central Coast Seafood and the rest of their team will remain in place.

This acquisition adds both purchasing power and delivery reach to our sales, customer service, purchasing and delivery teams and will extend our delivery area north to the Monterey region.

Our President, Anthony Cigliano notes,

“We’re extremely excited about this acquisition. As a company, Central Coast Seafood shares our values and approach to responsible sourcing. This acquisition allows us to extend not only our sales reach, but our purchasing power as well. Improved access to some of California’s indigenous fisheries paired with the ability to service the amazing array of restaurants and retail establishments up the coast is a win for everyone, especially our current and new customers.”

Our commitment to responsible sourcing is shared by the Central Coast Team. According to Giovanni Comin, President of Central Coast Seafood, “it is our shared goal to not only provide our customers the freshest seafood possible with top shelf service, but also deliver a product that is produced in an environmentally responsible manner.”

We’re looking forward to continuing to serve you this summer and beyond!

Congratulations to both Santa Monica Seafood and Central Coast Seafood.
I am thrilled for the Cigliano family and the Comin family.

I have been a fan of SMS since the late 1990’s and I have known Giovanni and Molly for the past several years. This is a great match, with nearly identical values and ethics.

Whenever we eat out, I usually inquire about the restaurant’s seafood supplier. If it isn’t SMS or CCS, I usually order steak.

Best of luck as you continue to dominate the seafood market in the West!

    Warmest regards,
    Ed Cox,
    Arroyo Grande, CA
