Santa Monica Seafood believes the sourcing and purchasing of our products are critical keys to our success in offering the freshest and most eco-friendly seafood available. One of the keys to our sourcing is our purchasing group that has a combined seafood experience of nearly 100 years.
We are constantly looking for, and testing, new suppliers on a world-wide basis. We meet most of our suppliers and visit many of their plants to assess the quality and safety of their operations and products. We actively seek out suppliers who share our philosophy of sustainability and preferentially support them with our business. We demand the highest quality available from responsible fisheries around the world.
In order to offer a rotating selection of freshly caught, sustainable options, our Buyers work closely with our suppliers, chefs and restaurateurs who rely on us for their products on a daily basis. Our Buyers track supply and pricing information on a regional, national and world-wide basis for all our products. We are constantly seeking out new product species, new fishery opportunities and new ways to purchase that will ultimately benefit our customers. We offer more than 600 seafood and shellfish products every day!
A combination of financial strength, product knowledge and market foresight allows us to make long-term strategic purchases of frozen products at prices that our competitors are unable to match. Lower prices, abundant quantities, wide selection and the highest quality are blended with our attention to food safety and seafood sustainability. Sourcing over 15 million pounds of fresh and frozen seafood a year is not an easy process, but we’ve taken over 70 years to perfect it.
