Santa Monica Seafood is a full-service fresh and frozen seafood processor and distributor. We deliver six days a week in refrigerated trucks to California, Las Vegas, NV and the Phoenix, AZ region. We offer a wide range of services and have well-trained sales and customer service staff available to handle all your seafood needs.
Whatever your specifications are for seafood, let us handle them. Our purchasing power allows us to secure inventory when, at times, our competitors cannot. We also have the ability to source and secure specific brands and sizes to ensure a consistent supply line while a customer’s menu is in effect. We offer scaling, gutting, filleting, portion-control and specialty cuts. In addition to cutting fish, we are also licensed and able to deliver fresh/live shellfish – lobsters, crabs, oysters and clams.
We employ a full staff of sales and customer service professionals who are available to help with menu planning, order scheduling, par maintenance (we can provide you with detailed historical reports) and staff education. Additionally, our two retail locations, in Santa Monica and Costa Mesa are open seven days a week and can help out in a pinch when necessary.

Santa Monica Seafood was officially founded in 1939, but the real story began in 1898 when John Deluca, who had only recently left his home in Naples, Italy put his roots down in the port city of San Pedro. Needing a way to support his growing family he looked to the sea. His hard work and respect for the ocean rubbed off on his family and before long his oldest son Jack was tagging along. Those days on the dock laid the groundwork for a family tradition that has lasted four generations.
Logistics – Our Delivery Fleet Delivers The Freshest Product Possible
With a delivery area which spans from Butte County to San Diego County and includes Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson, we have structured a fleet and distribution operation to ensure that the product delivered is as fresh when it arrives at our customer’s door as it was when it left our processing facility. We operate a fleet of trucks designed to maintain optimal temperatures and use a variety of technologies to control and monitor the entire delivery process from both a safety and quality perspective:
Every truck is refrigerated and utilizes a monitoring system to control inside temperature and to report any temperature variances or equipment malfunctions.
Our Logistics department utilizes a Satellite Vehicle Monitoring System to provide real time vehicle locations as well as travel history (speed violations, excessive idling, etc.), time at delivery locations, and location alerts (entering and exiting selected areas and regions).
Our Logistics department also utilizes Routing Software which provides optimization of routes and dynamic routing to generate revised routes based on a variety of parameters.

We are proud to be at the forefront of economic integrity issues regarding species substitution, adulteration and weights and measures. We take a zero tolerance approach to seafood fraud, and only work with reputable purveyors that have passed a rigorous inspection process. Periodic DNA testing also ensures that we’re always delivering exactly what you ordered.
Our invoices are designed to help you gain a better understanding of the overall sustainability of your seafood purchases through a sustainability ranking average. On your invoice, you’ll notice each of your purchases has a number assigned to it. Items that are ranked as green (Best Choice) are given a 4, yellow (Good Alternative) species are given a 3, blue (SMS Approved) are given a 2, and red (Avoid) species are given a 1. Grey species are not included in the ranking process.
